Putting the Photography Business on a Break

Back in August I made a HUGE announcement that changed things for my wedding photography business and for our family. I was going to wait until October to announce it but I have no self control when it comes to keeping our own secrets, but man I’m good at keeping other’s secrets, I love being in on surprises!!

This year my word of the year is to Persevere, and Do Hard Things. This news is so fitting and yet so ironic with those 2018 themes.

We are closing the proverbial doors on Marquette LaRee for 1-2 years. I’m finishing out with the amazing clients I have booked but put a freeze on taking on new clients immediately in August and through 2019. Turning away new inquiries the past few months has broken my heart each time, but there is a time and season for everything. We don’t know what the next season in life is (#notpregnant), but we know that right now 100% of my attention and love needs to go to my family with some various health issues that need attending immediate and beyond and we hope this moves us forward in new ways towards some of our dreams.

We are persevering in our faith that God has a path and plan for us. We’ve seen that pattern time and again in our lives and know if we do what he asks, we’re taken care of. So we’re persevering there by doing the hard thing of putting this thriving business on hold. And while I am sad in part, I feel so much peace about this decision.

So for now, I feel like Ross…”We were on a break!” And already I’m seeing some interesting and unforeseen side effects of shutting down. But that, my friends, is another story to come so that this doesn’t become a 10 volume saga.
